Japanese pocket knife, with a shape that hasn't changed since the Meiji period (1868-1912), this folding knife is very versatile. Only one last crafter, Motosuke Nagao, is able to produce Higonokami.
Established at Miki, one of the birthplace of iron-sand crafting in Hyogo prefecture, he is the 4th generation and one member of his family was part of the creation process of the famous pocket knife.
Handle is made of brass and the blade of steel and/or “blue steel” (aogami). As he is the last crafter making the Higonokami, Motosuke Nagao isn't able to verify the quality of its products, small imperfections may occur. Brass and steel can be perfectly polished and sharpened at home, making it a precious tool but patina is always coming back, showing higonokami's true value: being an humble and daily tool.
